Shield Me - App Development Report 4/7/2025

Today marks another exciting step forward in the development of the Shield Me app. I have decided after some thought that I will begin tracking my progress via this blog to keep everyone up to date on updates, and the upcoming release date that has yet to be finalized.

I am committed to building something powerful, personal, and reliable—and I wanted to share what’s been accomplished today as part of that mission below.

What's new on the Front End:

  • Dynamic Family Alert Lists: Users can now view alerts generated by connected family members in real time. This helps loved ones stay in the loop when a suspicious call is flagged.

  • Role-Based Access Control: I implemented a new feature where only the parent user (account owner and subscription holder) can manage family settings. This ensures greater security and clarity in shared accounts.

  • Navigation Improvements: Added back buttons to both the Privacy Notice and AI Help Bot screens (currently in development) for easier testing and application navigation

Back-End Progress:

  • VOIP Processor Selected: I have officially made the decision to use Twilio for VOIP processing, laying the foundation for stable and scalable call handling.

  • Real-Time Audio Streaming (In Progress): Began re-development / editing of my real-time audio streaming function utilizing Twilio's service APIs to support scam detection and live analysis during phone calls.

Completed Application Features:

  • Custom AI Call Analysis API: This completed component takes in chunks of call audio clips, transcribes it into text, redacts sensitive information from that text, and passes the information to a custom AI model that has been trained to detect scams.

  • Functional App Authentication System: I have completed the signup system enabling users to create accounts, allowing them to view and control their profile with applicable settings, and activate protection with the press of a button.

  • Functional Dynamic My Family System: This feature enables users to enter a family code that then links their personal account to a family account. This enables family members to join each other under one plan, and allows for management of family level alerts and settings.

  • Database Design Completion: Scam Shield's main database has been structured and is fully functional based on our design and our use case.

Features Coming Soon:

  • OTP Verification: Enables 2 factor authentication to provide users safety and peace of mind.

  • User & Family Profile Realtime Settings Updates: Enables user settings to be centralized and transferrable across devices.

  • Custom API Integration With FlutterFlow: Connects developed functions to FlutterFlow in order to allow our application to have native functionality on Apple and Android devices.

  • Complete VOIP Integration: Finish integrating Twilio into our backend software to begin testing VOIP integration with our T.R.A.R Analysis API.

  • Functional Shield Me Help Bot: Functional AI bot trained on our application's functions, commonly asked questions, and documentation on thousands of scams. This bot seeks to provide a better-than-human experience providing assistance to users with questions, or application / user level issues and inquiries. This bot will have a voice and text option.

  • Functional Learning Articles List & Articles: This feature provides our users with a catalog of learning articles, and videos that ensure that no question surrounding scams go unanswered.

There is much more work to be done, but I am proud of how the Shield Me app is shaping up. Every line of code, every design decision is being made with family protection, transparency, and usability in mind.

Stay tuned for more updates coming soon, and thank you for following our journey!
